The Cre-AUT workshops are online and in-person workshops designed to provide a welcoming and fun space in which people with autism can express their creativity. The workshops also provide expert support in improving ones artistic ability.
While there is a clear structure to the workshops, they are not rigid and inflexible. Our work is driven by a person centred approach and therefore we are open to being flexible within the structure in response to the artistic desires of the group.
The workshops are based on 6 sessions spread over 6 weeks. Each session will be approximately 1 hour long. There will be a maximum of 7 participants per group to ensure each individual has the space and support they require.
There are 3 age groups catered for in our workshops:
Group 1 12-15 yrs
Group 2 15-18yrs
Group 3 18yrs upwards
Group 4 Parent and child family creative time
Online groups are held via zoom, we will send the zoom meeting details to participants prior to each session. In person sessions will be held in suitable and appropriate venues.
Our workshops adhere to the principle of respect. Each group will agree on a set of guidelines for the sessions based on respect and care for all participants.
What is the Purpose of the Sessions?
To create a space in which people with autism can explore their creativity. Many people may feel that creativity means being talented but our approach is to separate the two. The value of the sessions is not necessarily about making popular or pleasing art, it is to creatively engage with art in a positive and supportive space.
We are also really looking forward to in-person workshops in the near future!
