Diarmuid Heffernan is an autism consultant, lecturer and author with nearly a decade of experience providing support for people on the autism spectrum.
He is co-author of ‘Living with Asperger Syndrome and Autism in Ireland’ and is sole author of the book ‘Sensory Issues for Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders’. While he is neurotypical, he has a deep understanding of autism spectrum conditions and people on the spectrum.
He was part of the team that developed Autism Studies in University College Cork and he currently lectures on the Autism Studies programmes as well as Disability Studies. He also is involved in several voluntary projects which involve people on the spectrum.
Kirsten Hurley is an autism consultant, lecturer and speaker.
Like many girls and women with autism she was only diagnosed with autism as a young adult. Since her diagnosis in 2010, Kirsten has conducted research into autism and the experiences of people with autism. She has also supported others on the spectrum since her own diagnosis in both a paid and voluntary capacity.
She led the team that developed the Diploma in Autism Studies and the online Certificate in Autism Studies in University College Cork and continues to lecture both in person and online on various topics around autism.
